Wang Weiguang

University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences(UCASS)

Wang Weiguang is a professor of the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences(UCASS), a tenured professor of the Nankai University, a professor of the Party School of the Central Committee of C.P.C, a doctor of Philosophy, a doctoral supervisor, and a member of academic division of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences(CASS).

He was a delegate to the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th sessions of national congress of the communist party of China, an alternate member of the 17th Central Committee of C.P.C and a member of the 18th Central Committee of C.P.C. He was a deputy to the 10th National People’s Congress(NPC) and a member of the Constitution and Law Committee of NPC. He was a member of the 6th standing committee of the All-China Youth Federation. He was a member of the 13th standing committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference(CPPCC) and the chairperson of the Ethnic and Religious Affairs Committee of CPPCC. He is now the president of the College of Marxism of CASS, the president of the Research Institute for 21st-Century Marxism of the Nankai University·UCASS, the president of the Chinese Association of Dialectic Materialism Study(CADMS), a member and the chief expert of the Advisory Committee of The Project to Study and Develop Marxist Theory, an academic leader of the first-level discipline of Marxist Theory and the first-level discipline of Philosophy. He has served as vice president of the Party School of the Central Committee of C.P.C, the leader of the Leading Group of Chinese Local Chronicles, the president and the secretary of the leading Party members’ group of CASS, the president of the academic division presidium of CASS, the president of UCASS, the president of the Foundation for Marxist Studies. In 1991, he was awarded the honorary title of "Chinese Doctoral Degree Recipient with Outstanding Contributions" by the State Council.

His main research areas are focused on Marxist philosophy, Marxism and the sinicization of Marxism, the theoretical system of Socialism with Chinese characteristics, Xi Jinping thought on Socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, major theoretical and practical issues of Socialism with Chinese characteristics and the general history of Chinese thought, etc. He is the author of General History of Socialism, New Popular Philosophy, Social Contradiction Theory, Interest Theory, Self-selected Works of Wang Weiguang, Selected Lectures of Wang Weiguang, New Achievements of the Sinicization of Marxism, Introduction to the General History of Chinese Thought, Outline of Chinese Social Formation History, Theory on international Financial Monopoly Capitalism, etc. He has published over 650 papers in national newspapers and academic journals. He has presided over multiple research projects supported by The National Social Science Fund of China.
