Arshad Ahmad received his MBA and PhD in Educational Psychology at McGill University, Canada. He is the Vice-Provost, Teaching & Learning at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He is also the Director of The Paul R. MacPherson Institute for Leadership, Innovation and Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
Arshad has taught and authored textbooks in Corporate and Personal Finance and is the recipient of several Teaching and Professor-of-the-Year awards from local and international universities including IEDC. In 1992, he was recognized for leadership in teaching with a lifetime 3M National Teaching Fellowship – a program he coordinated for 10 years.
He has also held leadership positions as President of The Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, a national association of teachers and education developers in Canada and Vice-President of The International Consortium for Educational Development consisting of 24 member organizations worldwide. Both STLHE and ICED, aim to improve the quality of the student learning experience.
Arshad’s current research interests are in Teaching Philosophies, Approaches to Teaching and Students as Partners. He is also the subject matter expert for a Mooc specialization consisting of 5 courses offered by Coursera on Finance for Everyone
