Prof. Dr. Dunja Mladenić
works as a senior researcher and a project leader at Jožef Stefan Institute in Ljubljana, Slovenia, leading Department
for Artificial Intelligence and teaching
at Jožef Stefan International
Postgraduate School, University of Ljubljana and University of Zagreb. She is
an expert on study and development of Machine Learning, Text Mining, Semantic
Technology, Sensor Data Analysis, Internet of Things and Data Science
techniques and their application on real-world problems. She was a visiting
researcher at School of Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University, USA in
1996-1997 and in 2000-2001. She is a co-inventor on a patent application with
Cycorp Inc., USA, she co-authored a number of scientific papers, co-edited
several books, she served on program committees of a number of international
conferences and organized international scientific events. From 2013-2017 she
served on the Scientific Council of Jožef Stefan Institute
acting as a vice president in 2015-2017. She serves one the Executive board of
Slovenian Artificial Intelligence Society SLAIS (as a president of SLAIS
2010-2014) and on the Advisory board of ACM Slovenija.
She is a member of OECD
Network of Experts on AI (ONE AI). She has experience in coordinating EU
projects and participating in the proposal evaluation with EC including ERC
panels, Finish Science Academy, Swedish Research Council, Science Foundation
Ireland and USA National Science Foundation.
