As of last week, IEDC is hosting an art exhibition: The Power of Women in Lace with Klimt. The exhibition celebrates the artistry of Idrija lace makers, who have beautifully reimagined Gustav Klimt’s masterpiece Die Jungfrau in delicate lace patterns. The opening of the exhibition of the Idrija Lacemakers’ Association in collaboration with Karlo Kirri studio, was a special event that brought together art, heritage, and community.
We were honoured to welcome Mayors Mr. Toni Mežan (Bled) and Mr. Tomaž Vencelj (Idrija), Ms. Valerija Božič (Director, Idrija Tourism Board), Ms. Lea Ferjan (Director, Bled Culture Institute), Ms. Edina Seleskovic, IEDC GMP participants, and exhibition team - Maša Strobl and Sonja Mlakar.
We were especially grateful to welcome 24 lace makers from Idrija. A special thank you goes to the ladies, whose beautiful craft has brought this exhibition to life. Your artistry, rooted in Slovenian heritage, is truly inspiring!
The evening featured wonderful speeches, insights from the exhibition coordinators, and beautiful music by the Kacin string trio.
Here at IEDC, our gallery celebrates the power of art to inspire new ways of thinking and seeing the world. Hosting this exhibition aligns with our dedication to learning from diverse artistic expressions. We believe that art and leadership share a profound connection. Art teaches us to observe, reflect, and listen deeply—qualities essential for impactful leadership.
The exhibition is open for viewing in the lobby of the Centre for Innovative Learning at IEDC during the school’s operating hours, and we warmly invite you to visit and explore it throughout November and December.
