With over 25 years of experience working with leading international industrial organizations comprising more than 5,000 employees and annual turnovers exceeding $1 billion, Mr. Nuno Cunha has built an extensive career across multiple sectors, including chemical, automotive, food and beverage packaging, and metal industries. In these industries, he has held leadership roles with a focus on organizational transformation, social governance, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), as well as health and safety.
Successfully leading large-scale transformation initiatives, Mr. Nuno Cunha has consistently focused on improving operational efficiency, restructuring for growth, and navigating complex change management processes. His expertise includes designing and implementing social governance frameworks aligned with global best practices, ensuring organizations not only meet but exceed compliance standards.
Mr. Nuno Cunha is strongly committed to advancing DEI within organizations, demonstrated through his successful leadership of initiatives fostering inclusive cultures and improving representation at all levels.
His industry experience includes seven years in the automotive sector, five years in the metal industry (aluminum extrusion), eleven years in the chemical industries, and the last six years in glass packaging manufacturing for food and beverage.
In 2009, Mr. Nuno Cunha joined Valspar (The Sherwin-Williams Company) as HR Director EMEAI, where he led a cultural change initiative, improved worker relations, reduced strikes, developed new leaders and a regional HR team, and implemented a new internal communication system.
In 2013, he undertook a new role as HR Director EMEA at Cabot Corporation. His responsibilities included managing the post-merger integration of Purification Solutions, achieving over 15% efficiency gains and a 10% resource reduction, leading cultural change and leadership training, and driving organizational changes that enhanced customer satisfaction.
Since 2018, Mr. Nuno Cunha has held the position of Chief HR Officer and Secretary of the Nomination and Compensation Committee at Vetropack Holding SA. His contributions at Vetropack include serving as a core member of the team responsible for the design and implementation of a 10-year strategy, participating in the due diligence process for the 2021 acquisition of a factory in Moldova, and overseeing its subsequent integration. Additionally, he established the Corporate HR function (as the CHRO role was newly created), led a cultural change program, implemented an Agile team, introduced several SuccessFactors modules, developed a new grading and compensation scheme, and created a talent and succession planning platform.
As of November 2024, Mr. Nuno Cunha will become a Certified Board Member, having completed the certification program at the University of St. Gallen.
