Prof. Dr Sc. Sanja Kalambura is Vice-Dean for Science at the Velika Gorica University of Applied Sciences and a full professor at the Faculty of Geotechnics, University of Zagreb. Her areas of activity are environmental protection, waste management and sustainable development. She holds a PhD in eco-engineering from the University of Zagreb and has more than 30 years of professional and academic experience in environmental protection and waste management. During her career, she has contributed to the development of Croatian waste management policies and strategies and has led or participated in numerous national and international research and development projects. Her research focuses on the circular economy, microplastics, environmental protection and sustainable development. She is the author or co-author of more than 180 scientific and professional papers and publications and is a permanent expert collaborator for several international higher education accreditation agencies. For her scientific achievements, she has received the National Science Award and the National Geographic Croatia Award for the Green Optics project.
