Europe at a Crossroads: IEDC hosts International Presidents’ Forum
IEDC Presidents' Forum gathered 150 leaders from 24 countries to discuss Europe's standing in the global economy
The annual International Presidents' Forum took place at the IEDC - Bled School of Management, gathering 150 leaders, ambassadors, and IEDC alumni from 24 countries. Under the theme "Competitive Europe – Paradise Lost or New Drive", participants discussed Europe's standing in the global economy and the urgent need for renewed competitiveness, inspired by former ECB President Mario Draghi’s analysis of European dynamics.

In her opening speech, Prof. Danica Purg, Dean of IEDC, emphasized: “I believe that with a coordinated effort, investment in education and a fearless embrace of new technologies like AI, Europe can redefine its role in the 21st century, setting a new standard for value-driven growth and competitive excellence. "

The forum featured Prof. Dr. Tomas Casas i Klett from the University of St. Gallen and Ms. Kerstin Jorna, Director-General at the European Commission, as keynote speakers:

✔️ Prof. Tomas Casas i Klett highlighted governance challenges and the need for visionary elites to drive European innovation and risk-taking.
✔️ Ms. Kerstin Jorna outlined EU initiatives to strengthen the Single Market and boost green investments, emphasising that Europe is far from a "lost paradise."

Europe’s future competitiveness hinges on strategic investments in innovation, unified action to strengthen the Single Market, and bold leadership to embrace risk and drive growth. “Europe must act now to secure its place in the global economy”, was the key message from the distinguished roundtable speakers: Matteo Ferrazzi, Nevenka Kržan, Archibald Kremser, Dinko Lucic, and Dr. Iztok Seljak.
