This important publication reflects a truly global collaborative effort. Under the editorial leadership of Danica Purg and Denis Berberović, the project brought together 85 researchers from 30 countries and insights from 70 Hidden Champion companies—firms that play a critical role in shaping global industries, often beyond the public spotlight.
The book offers a comprehensive perspective on competitiveness in emerging markets, highlighting how focused strategy, innovation, and long-term orientation enable companies to achieve global leadership positions.
IEDC extends its sincere appreciation to all contributors whose expertise, commitment, and openness made this research possible. Special thanks also go to the teams at Springer and CEEMAN Network, as well as to all colleagues at IEDC who supported the coordination of this complex international project, ensured methodological consistency, and contributed to bringing the publication to fruition.
A special acknowledgement is dedicated to Hermann Simon, whose pioneering concept of Hidden Champions continues to inspire new generations of scholars and business leaders. His foreword underscores that sustainable success is built on focus, excellence, and long-term commitment - principles that strongly resonate with IEDC’s values.
The release of this book represents an important contribution to advancing the understanding of global competitiveness in rapidly evolving markets. It also opens new avenues for dialogue, research, and executive learning on how companies from rising economies can successfully compete on the global stage.
