This year’s forum, themed “New Frontiers in Innovation,” explored how innovation today extends far beyond technology — thriving in bold ideas, responsible leadership, cross-sector collaboration, and global citizenship.
The event brought together alumni across generations and programs, and served as a powerful reminder of the value of returning to the school, reconnecting with peers, and shaping the future together. Seeing classmates reunite after years, and new relationships form across borders and industries, made the atmosphere both celebratory and forward-looking.
Among the many participants were also the presidents of IEDC alumni clubs Zdravka Škugor Ferdebar (Croatia), Desislava Sarbinovska (Bulgaria), Nina Stupan (Slovenia), Cristian Gheorghe (Romania).
The forum opened with reflections on the role of alumni in shaping leadership and innovation globally, and emphasized the importance of lifelong learning, peer networks, and values-driven action.
The day featured three exceptional speakers:
Prof. Bill Fischer (IMD & MIT Sloan School of Management) delivered a keynote on “Innovation Without Technology,” urging participants to see innovation not as a product of tools, but of purpose-driven transformation: “Technology may enable innovation, but true change happens when we rethink how we create value. Every business model needs leadership and structure to support it.”
Ulrik Nehammer (Chairman International, ServiceNow) addressed “Leading Business Transformation in the Age of AI,” exploring how artificial intelligence can enhance—not replace—human capabilities: “AI is not just about automation. It’s about unlocking human potential through responsibility, transparency, and trust.”
Tanja Fajon, Slovenia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs and IEDC alumna, highlighted the strategic importance of economic diplomacy and international cooperation: “We must connect diplomacy, innovation, and business — and take the best from each. That’s how Slovenia opens doors and creates future opportunities.”
One of the key moments of the forum was the Alumni Achievement Award (AAA) ceremony. IEDC proudly recognized five outstanding alumni whose careers embody leadership, innovation, and social contribution:
Tanja Fajon – Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Slovenia, Sandro Zovko – CEO, ZGI (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Ante Mandić – CEO, Petrol Croatia, Daniela Staicu – Social entrepreneur and researcher, Romania, Erdinc Sezer – Co-founder & CEO, INKSEN, Turkey
These individuals continue to inspire through their achievements, values, and dedication to making a meaningful impact.
IEDC extends sincere thanks to all alumni, guests, speakers, and supporters who contributed to making this event truly memorable. A special appreciation goes to Istarska hiša, who generously supported the event and shared a taste of Istria through a carefully selected wine experience that added a festive and authentic touch to the day.
