Bled, Slovenia and Seoul, South Korea, November 2020: WURI "World's Universities with Real Impact" is a new university ranking that evaluates the university’s real contributions to our society. WURI highlights creative and innovative approaches to university research and education that focus on:
- Industrial applications, rather than the traditional ways of counting research papers and lecture-type teaching;
- Value-creating startups and entrepreneurship, rather than a traditional focus on the number of jobs filled; and
- Social responsibility, ethics, and integrity, rather than a focus on knowledge and skills just for material success.
- Student mobility and openness for exchange and collaboration between schools and across national borders, rather than an independent yet closed system.
Although the inaugural WURI 2020 ranking contained Stanford, MIT, and Harvard at the top of the list, it also included universities/colleges such as Minerva Schools at Keck Graduate Institute, Ecole 42, and IEDC-Bled School of Management, which do not normally feature in the traditional university rankings. Their emergence highlights the way in which the WURI Ranking is not based on tradition, reputation, or popularity, but rather is focused on innovativeness, entrepreneurship, responsibility, and openness.
We are very proud that IEDC was listed 23rd place among the WURI "World's Universities with Real Impact" in Entrepreneurial spirit and 83rd place among the WURI "World's Universities with Real Impact".
