Tokyo (Japan): IEDC President, Prof. Danica Purg was a key-note speaker at the EU High Level Conference of Economic empowerment of Women. She was invited by the EU Embassy and the Slovene Embassy in Japan to address over 300 guests of the conference entitled “Together for Equality”.
Among high level speakers from both the public and private sectors were: Mr. Katsunobu Kato, Minister for Promoting Dynamic Engagement of All Citizens, Minister for Working-style Reform, Minister in charge of Women's Empowerment, Minister of State for Gender Equality, Dr. Sari Raassina, Member of the Finnish Parliament and President of the Finnish Council for Gender Equality and Ms. Kumi Sato, President & CEO, COSMO.
At the event they discussed what the EU and Japan can learn from each other to shape a modern and more gender-balanced society.
“Equality between women and men is one of the European Union's grounding values,” stressed Prof. Danica Purg in her speech and added: “Women equality and women empowerment became indeed part in my personal life and in business. I believe that treaties, strategy papers and legislation are necessary and helping, but finally the success of our endeavours depends on whether we succeed to change the mind-set of people, men and women.”
